Lead Generation

Lead generation is the process of attracting and converting strangers into someone who has indicated interest in a company’s product or service. Some examples of lead generators are job applications, blog posts, coupons, live events, and online content.

Leads are the results of export marketing services. Exporters do all the export marketing to generate leads. Simply, a lead is a person or contact who has an interest in that company’s product or service in some way, shape, or form.

Export leads are the contacts that an exporter can get from the interest in export marketing activities which can be a sort of contact information of a person or a company such as a phone number, a business card, a company website, an email, an inquiry, an appointment etc.

Lead generation is the action or process of identifying and finding potential customers for a business’s products or services.

In marketing, lead generation is the initiation of consumer interest or enquiry into products or services of a business. Exporters create leads for purposes such as contact list building, e.g. email list acquisition or for sales leads.

The methods for generating leads typically fall under the umbrella of advertising. But they can also include non-paid sources such as organic search engine results from existing customers.

For Instance, leads may come from various sources or activities. For example, digitally via the Internet, through personal referrals, telephone calls either by the company or telemarketers, advertisements, and events.

In addition, lead generation is often paired with lead management to move leads through the purchase funnel. Also, we can call this combination as pipeline marketing.

Moreover, an exporter needs to follow up the leads frequently. Once the individual (e.g. salesperson) reviews and qualifies it to have potential business, the lead gets converted to an opportunity for a business. Hence, to win the deal, the opportunity has to undergo multiple sales stage.

In the next blog, we will know about inbound and outbound marketing which affects lead generation in a big role.
